The Red Shoe Pub is probably one of the best known pubs for its live music and good food. Well liked by locals and visitors for its unique pub atmosphere, good beer and the daily live entertainment. Tip: Drinking Mussels in Red Shoe Ale, bacon and garlic, with a cold draft beer. 30 minutes drive from the Beardmans.

Our favourite local beer. Brewed in Cape Breton and all organic! At the Brewery itself, you'll find a pretty little beer garden with a beautiful view over the Bras D'or Lake and you could enjoy delicious food from the Food Truck. Before you leave get a "Growler" to take back home with you.

We haven't made it to the Bite House in person yet, but heard a lot about this extraordinary little Foodie Restaurant. It seats only 12 persons and these are in such high demand that reservations for the summer must be made far ahead of time at the beginning of the year. Chef Brian Picard creates an elusively menue with the best local ingredients obtained by small local farmers or out of his own garden. An once in a lifetime experience for gourmets.
